There is so much to rant about, so much.
It is impossible to know where to begin when the culture and economy are skewed toward lunacy in such bald faced ways. From adoration of guns to violent marginalization to narcissistic celebrity to consolidation of wealth and power in the hands of a few, we are in an ugly time. What is not to rant about?
But today it is a time to breathe. The sun has been shining; winter in New England has disappeared faster than yoga fashions; and sometimes it is important to bracket what’s ugly and say thanks for what is beautiful.
There is indeed beauty in this ugly time. Find it.
Find the beauty and drink it. See it, touch it if you can, adore it, and give thanks to whomever or whatever you think might be its source. Then, if you would be so kind, share it with someone. Thanks.
Exactly my thoughts yesterday as my dog ” Kibbee” and I walked a less-frequented portion of the Erie Canal!
Wind blown, lightening-struck, largely forgotten trees…many battered and long rotted survivors of many years…they still manage to find a branch or two on which to grow apple blossoms. Others offer nests for squirrels and old wood for young woodpeckers.
Kind of how I feel…but content and satisfied to still be standing!
Thanks, Cam
Those old trees go on nurturing new life for more than a century – and so do we, as our lives ripple far beyond our own.
